Stuart Shieber

James O. Welch, Jr. and Virginia B. Welch Professor of Computer Science

I'm a professor of computer science and affiliate of the linguistics department with special interest in human-computer communication, especially using natural languages (like English), but also through other means. These days I've been teaching CS51, a course in the art of computer programming, which some 15-20% of you end up taking at some point. My affiliation with Lowell House is longstanding, starting in 1978 as an undergraduate. I rejoined the house as a member of the SCR in 1990. You might trip over me at the occasional lunch in the Lowell Dining Hall.
