Housing Day

Housing Day Explained

Harvard’s annual Housing Day informs first years living in the Yard of their placement into one of Harvard’s 12 uperclassmen residential houses for the coming three years.

The Thursday before Spring Break, at 9am, upperclassmen come bang on the doors of first years in all of their costumes and house gear and hand them and their blockmates the letter that welcomes them into the House they've been assigned into. The whole rest of the day is dedicated to House pride and welcoming them into the House.

NOTE ABOUT 2020: Due to the COVID 19 concerns, Housing Day was postponed as the college and university transitioned to remote learning.  It was re-scheduled for Friday, April 10th and occured virtually.
