Rachel McCleary

Rachel M. McCleary is a Lecturer in the Economics Department at Harvard University. Rachel holds a Ph.D. in moral philosophy, University of Chicago (1986) and Master of Theological Studies, Emory University (1978). Her research focuses on how religion interacts with economic performance as well as the political and social behavior of individuals and institutions across societies. Rachel studies the influence religious beliefs and practices have on productivity, economic growth, and the maintenance of political institutions such as democracy. She teaches courses using an interdisciplinary approach. Rachel also works on issues of moral agency, consciousness, and reasoning.
