Noam Elkies

Born in NYC, and raised there and in Israel, I came here for math grad school, earned my Ph.D. in 1987, and have been here ever since, first as a Junior Fellow and now as a faculty member. Most of my research is in number theory, but I welcome discussion on any mathematical topic. My other lifelong love is music: I’ve been playing the piano and writing music as long as I can remember, studied both at Juilliard while in high school, and still pursue them, and some choral singing, on campus and elsewhere; at Lowell, you might see me at High Table, Coffeehouse, Trivia, or behind the Opera scenes.
