I am an Associate Professor of Government at Dartmouth College and a Visiting Professor of Government at Harvard for the 2023-24 academic year. I study the politics and psychology of foreign policy decision-making. I am the author of The Commander-in-Chief Test: Public Opinion and the Politics of Image-Making in U.S. Foreign Policy (Cornell, 2023) and War and Chance: Assessing Uncertainty in International Politics (Oxford, 2019). I graduated from Harvard College in 2005 and received my PhD from the Harvard Kennedy School in 2013. In addition to my academic research, I have worked for the World Bank, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the International Security Assistance Force-Afghanistan.
