I was born in Guatemala where I became a fourth grade teacher at a small elementary school. Due to the civil war, I immigrated to the United States and embarked on a new career in the construction field, obtaining a Hoisting Engineer’s license and a degree in Applied Science in Building and Construction Management from Wentworth Institute of Technology. I worked on one of the most ambitious and important engineering projects in the United States in the post-War period: Boston’s Big Dig! I have been at Harvard for almost 16 years starting as an evening custodian. I was promoted first to crew chief for Adams House, then became the supervisor for the River houses, and subsequently the area manager for Campus Services. Now I am happy to be at Lowell House!

I enjoy outdoor activities such as biking, canoeing, camping, and especially hiking with my wife, two daughters, and friends. I love historical fiction, soccer, jazz, and historical sites. I’m always fascinated by how things work, and I like to explore new ways of fixing things.
