March 17, 2009: Sprinkler Project Update

Work will get under starting tomorrow. Below is a detailed day by day outline of the proposed work. Also I have attached a look ahead schedule showing where we expect to be working in each stairwell. I would use the outline and schedule as a guide, as work will progress either a day or so ahead or behind the schedule as proposed.

Contractors will be working thru out the building, but none should need access to your suite. If a situation arises that they need access it will only by escort from Lloyd and or me.

LOWELL HOUSE:

Wednesday 3/18/09:   Sprinkler Subcontractor will be working throughout the building stairwells (all) performing layout of all sprinkler riser penetrations.  The sprinkler subcontractor will also be walking through the basement to layout any penetrations that will be needed in vertical walls.  An Engineering Testing firm will be performing Ground Penetrating Radar inspections throughout the stairwells once layout has been finalized.  Small tools will be delivered into the basement during the day to prepare for work on Friday. 

Thursday 3/19/09:   Sprinkler Subcontractor will be working throughout the building stairwells (all) performing layout of all sprinkler riser penetrations.  The sprinkler subcontractor will also be walking through the basement to layout any penetrations that will be needed in vertical walls.  An Engineering Testing firm will be performing Ground Penetrating Radar inspections throughout the stairwells once layout has been finalized.  Small tools will be delivered into the basement during the day to prepare for work on Friday.

Saturday 3/21/09:   Sprinkler Subcontractor will be finalizing the layout of all sprinkler riser penetrations.  The sprinkler subcontractor will also be walking through the basement to layout any penetrations that will be needed in vertical walls.  An Engineering Testing firm will be performing Ground Penetrating Radar inspections throughout the stairwells once layout has been finalized.  Asbestos abatement will continue along the west site of the basement at the entrances to the racquetball courts, access to this portion of the building will be limited.  We will also begin coring the penetrations in the stairwells of Q,P and O (NOTE: Very noisy work).   We will be preparing the openings underneath the stairwells of entrances N,M and L ; we will be cutting into the existing plaster soffits underneath stairwells (NOTE: this will be noisy work). 

Sunday 3/22/09 :  No Work.

Monday 3/23/09:   The sprinkler subcontractor will continue laying out any penetrations that will be needed in vertical walls throughout the basement.  This will be the final day for the engineering testing firm to complete the Ground Penetrating Radar inspections throughout the stairwells.  Asbestos abatement will continue along the west site of the basement at the entrances to the racquetball courts, access to this portion of the building will be limited.  Installation of new sprinkler piping risers will begin in entries Q,P an O.  We will also begin coring the penetrations in the stairwells of M,N (NOTE: Very noisy work ).  We will be preparing the openings underneath the stairwells of entrances I,F,E and D ; we will be cutting into the existing plaster soffits underneath stairwells (NOTE: this will be noisy work). 

Tuesday 3/24/09:   The sprinkler subcontractor will continue laying out any penetrations that will be needed in vertical walls throughout the basement.  Asbestos abatement will continue along the west site of the basement at the entrances to the racquetball courts, access to this portion of the building will be limited.  Installation of new sprinkler piping risers will continue in entries Q,P,O,N,M and L.  We will also begin coring the penetrations in the stairwells of I,F,E an D (NOTE: Very noisy work) .  We will be preparing the openings underneath the stairwells of entrances C,B and A ; we will be cutting into the existing plaster soffits underneath stairwells (NOTE: this will be noisy work). 

Wednesday 3/25/09:   The sprinkler subcontractor will continue laying out any penetrations that will be needed in vertical walls throughout the basement.  We anticipate that this will be the final day for asbestos abatement in the basement.  We will begin patching the ceiling penetrations underneath the stairwells at entries Q,P and O.  Installation of new sprinkler piping risers will continue in entries N,M,L,I and F.  We will also begin coring the penetrations in the stairwells of E, D, C, B and A, (NOTE: Very noisy work).   We will be preparing the openings underneath the stairwells of entrances C,B and A ; we will be cutting into the existing plaster soffits underneath stairwells (NOTE: this will be noisy work). 

Thursday 3/26/09:   The sprinkler subcontractor will continue laying out any penetrations that will be needed in vertical walls throughout the basement.  We will continue patching the ceiling penetrations underneath the stairwells at entries Q,P,O,N,M and L.  Installation of new sprinkler piping risers will continue in entries I,F,E,D,C,B and A.  We will also begin coring the penetrations in the stairwells of Dining Hall, Entry G and H (NOTE: Very noisy work).  We will be preparing the openings underneath the stairwells of entrance R ; we will be cutting into the existing plaster soffits underneath stairwells (NOTE: this will be noisy work).  

Friday 3/27/09:   The sprinkler subcontractor will continue laying out any penetrations that will be needed in vertical walls throughout the basement.  We will continue patching the ceiling penetrations underneath the stairwells at entries Q,P,O,N,M,L,I & and F.  Installation of new sprinkler piping risers will continue in entries E,D,C,B and A.  We will also begin coring the penetrations in the stairwells of Entry R (NOTE: Very noisy work).  

Saturday 3/28/09: We will continue patching the ceiling penetrations underneath the stairwells at entries N,M,L,I,F,E,D,C,B and A.  Installation of new sprinkler piping risers will continue in entries for the Dining Hall, G, H and R.

Sunday 3/29/09:  No Work

Monday 3/30/09: We will continue patching the ceiling penetrations underneath the stairwells at entries I,F,E,D,C,B,A, Dining Hall, G and H.  Installation of new sprinkler piping risers will continue in entry R.
