March 10, 2009: Sprinkler Project Update

As the project moves forward, I wanted to let you know about any changes from previous notices to the project that you have received.

This week you will see engineers from the project working in the stairwells. The purpose of their work is to mark and locate the holes that will be cored in the stairwells during spring break. They are also working in the basement putting the final touches to the plan as this work will get under way on March 20 th , as previously noted.

A change to the schedule, I had sent out last week, will involve working in the opera storage room under the JCR. With the Lowell Opera staging it's annual performance. The opera storage room is presently empty and accessible. We will be installing the hangers and pipes in this room on Thursday and Friday of this week. No work will begin before 8am and no drilling before 10am as stated in the earlier plan schedule.

Key items for this week

  • Engineers working in the stairwells
  • Only a few student rooms will need to be accessed. At no time should you allow a worker into your room. All access to student rooms will be escorted by me and or Lloyd.
  • Opera room pipe hanging ( Thursday and Friday)
  • Work starts at 8am
  • Opera room drilling starts at 10am.
