Pre-Med AdvisingThe Lowell House Premedical Committee is a group of physicians and physicians-in-training who can help you decide whether to enter a career in medicine and guide you along the first steps to that career. The Lowell resident tutors on the committee are Mary Alexander, Marlys Fassett, Ilya Leskov, and Benjamin Rapoport. If you are interested in applying to medical school or would like to receive important email notifications pertinent to premedical students, you should contact the premedical committee by emailing lohomed@fas.harvard.edu. This is a way to reach all the resident premedical tutors. What the Premedical Committee Does• Helps you decide whether you want to enter a medical career and when is best to apply. • Guides you through premedical course requirements, MCAT preparation, and how to obtain letters of recommendation. • Assigns you a premed advisor, who is generally a non-resident tutor and practicing physician, to assist you with your decision to apply to medical school, when to take the MCATs, where to apply, and how to best put together your application. Your premed advisor is also an excellent way to get firsthand exposure to medicine through shadowing. • Writes a Dean’s cover letter for medical schools if you apply. • Packages your letters of recommendation and cover letter for all the schools to which you apply.
