Vijay Patel

This is my first year as a non-resident tutor in business. I currently work in CVS Caremark's Strategy and Corporate Development Group. Previously, I spent three years at Sankaty Advisors, an investment management firm in Boston. I also serve on the board of a public charter school in Cambridge, Prospect Hill Academy Charter School, and co-founded the Boston MS Gala, an annual fundraiser for the National MS Society. I am looking forward to meeting the rest of the members of the Lowell community this fall. I'm happy to chat with any students interested in any areas business or urban education.

I'm a resident tutor from Australia joining my wife Laura who is completing her Ph.D. In addition to being the Lowell House general careers adviser, I hope to be a great resource for students interested in working internationally and studying international issues. Here in Boston I work for Oxfam, an international development agency, and at home for the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs-AUSAID. I have a Masters’ in Economics, a Graduate Diploma in International Relations, a Bachelor in Business Management and 17 years experience working in the international business, government and NGO sectors. Amongst other things, I have been a diplomat, a humanitarian aid worker, and an international consultant and banker. I look forward to meeting with you and discussing your future.

Office of Career Services

The best place for resources and information is the Office of Career Services. The web site is fabulous with a lot of great information. The OCS office is just around the corner from Lowell house at 54 Dunster Street and has many people available to help with all of your specific needs. OCS also have a very full program of events throughout the year – from career fairs to resume clinics, interview workshops and meet the recruiter nights.
