Please come to me with questions and concerns of any kind--in addition to my advising and administrative roles I also help Lowell House students manage personal struggles, illness and anything else you may encounter on your way to your degree. - FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE. The schedule for final exams can now be found online at http://www.registrar.fas.harvard.edu/. Please check this list and let me know of any issues without delay. The Registrar's Office will correct any literal time overlaps in your exam schedule, but there are no exceptions made for having a difficult schedule (i.e. more than one exam in a day). If you have a conflict with another planned commitment, you will need to petition the Administrative Board for an exception, and I can advise you on that process. - EXAM MISHAPS. If you miss an exam for any reason, please get in touch with Kit and me by email or in the office **right away**. If you are too ill to take your exam, you need to go to UHS that day to get a medical makeup exam form signed by a doctor. This will allow us to postpone your exam until mid-spring--not a perfect solution but better than failing the class. If you oversleep, misread the schedule, or miss an exam for another reason, get in touch with me and we can talk about your options. - WRITTEN COURSEWORK. All coursework for Fall term courses must be turned in by January 22, the end of exams. If you need an extension past this date for medical or other reasons, I'll need to help you obtain approval from the course and the Administrative Board, so let me know right away. - OFFICE HOURS THIS WEEK. I will be in the office for walk-ins 10:00am-noon every day, and I am available for appointments at other times; simply drop in or contact Kit in the House Office (5-2283, lowell@fas) if you'd like to chat. Welcome back, and best wishes for reading period and exams. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ASK BETH, the HOUSE ADMINISTRATOR * Beth Terry, A-22, 5-2283 (lo-admin@fas.harvard.edu) Dear Beth, Where is registration? What happens if I forget? Also, if I want to cross-register for a course at MIT, where do I get the form? Is it too late to cross-register? And when to classes start, by the way? Signed, Questioning in Q entry Dear Deathwish, Aaah! First of all, I am officially renaming you I-Have-An-Academic-Deathwish. You make me paranoid just reading your question. In order: 1) you register online starting Jan. 23rd http://www.registrar.fas.harvard.edu -- otherwise you get sent to 20 Garden Street, Siberia, never to return; 2) check the MIT website http://web.mit.edu/registrar/ for details; 3) classes begin January 28th, but for heaven's sake, READ the Newsletter regularly for updates and other important information!
