Remember to stay engaged with your professors and TFs to ensure that you are making good progress and understanding the expectations for your courses. Let me know if you have any academic issues or questions. It may sound funny, but please make sure that you're registered for the courses that you've been attending! Check your online course report, and let me know if there were any errors so that we can correct them as soon as possible. - NOT FEELING WELL? If you miss a class or a deadline because of illness, please drop in to UHS and get a note from the doctor. If you've seen someone at UHS, your doctor and I can help you request accommodations from your courses. - OFFICE HOURS THIS WEEK. I will have walk-in office hours this week from 11-noon on Monday through to Wednesday. For other times, please contact Kit in the House Office (A-22, 5-2283, lowell@fas) to set up an appointment with me. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ASK BETH, the HOUSE ADMINISTRATOR *Beth Terry, A-22, 5-2283 (lo-admin@fas.harvard.edu) Dear Beth, I have not heard from the erstwhile roommate, who left suddenly for Singapore in September, and am wondering what my chances are of getting another. When do you let students know who may be returning for spring semester? Signed, I Have My Own Remote Dear I Have: I would count on sharing that remote soon. Unless an inordinate number of students depart unexpectedly in January, we will be pleasantly full at Lowell House this Spring of 2008. But your question raises an important issue: students thinking about departing for Leaves of Absence. Despite advances in technology, Harvard has not yet developed my idea to secretly sedate and tag undergraduates and implant precognitive locator decoders in their frontal lobes which will directly download into my Excel spreadsheet. (I'm ready though, I have enough RAM.) Therefore, I do not KNOW that you are considering leaving for a semester until you TELL me. I realize it seems a quaint request but please try to speak to me directly if you are thinking about taking Leave next spring. Even if your plans are not yet finalized, this information is crucial to keeping your academic and housing standing current. So don't be coy! Call me or come on up to A-22 for a visit! ~Beth ----------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM THE FELLOWSHIPS TUTORS * Josh Goldman (jdgoldm@fas.harvard.edu) * Courtney Peterson (cmpeters@fas.harvard.edu) SENIOR TRAVELING FELLOWSHIPS Lowell House nomination is required for the Gardner, Shaw, Sheldon, and Trustman fellowships for a year of purposeful travel in a foreign country.
